July 2026: BIA Appeals in Challenging Times (New and Revised!)

Please join Senior Counsel and former Appellate Immigration Judge Andrea Sáenz for a beginner-intermediate training aimed at preparing advocates who have not done significant appellate work to issue-spot and brief appeals and motions at the Board of Immigration Appeals.

July 13, 2026 from 2-3:30 p.m. EST

More than ever, advocates need to push back against legal errors and unfair hearings by appealing to the BIA and by preserving issues for the circuit courts. Topics will include: issue-spotting the IJ decision, preparing the Notice of Appeal and fee waiver, tips for strong briefing, setting expectations with a hostile BIA, and key case law to consider.  Attendees will receive the training slides, a sample Notice of Appeal, and other case law resources.

In collaboration with our partners at Fenwick LLP, this training is approved for 1.5 MCLE credits in Areas of Professional Practice, transitional and non-transitional credit.

Space is limited to allow for a robust discussion. Full and partial tuition scholarships are available. Requests for scholarship should be sent to support@cocounsel.org and will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and availability is subject to space limitation.
