Nearly 12 months ago we began our Community SIJS Project, through which we try to ensure that more NYC youth have access to Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, which provides a pathway to permanent lawful status for young people under 21.
Through the Project, we are supporting youth and training staff at our partner organizations to navigate this complex process. This month we began to enjoy the fruits of our labor, applying for SIJS status on behalf of 7 of our young participants.
Although far from the end of the road, this is a critically important step!
